Introduction

DigitalWEBster is a system service that you can use to quickly look up words in a dictionary or thesaurus. This used to be the function of Digital Webster on systems before Rhapsody. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Apple will be providing that tremendously useful application with the OS any longer. To fill the void, I worked up the DigitalWEBster service, which directs OmniWeb to do a lookup of the selected word using the online dictionary.

Installation

Simply move DigitalWEBster.service into the Library/Services directory under either /Network, /Local, or your home directory. Either log out and log back in, or run the make_services command to make the service available to newly launched applications.

Possible Future Enhancements

Remove the dependence on OmniWeb.
Create a full app.
Build a dictionary cache on the local machine/network.
